About me

Researcher/Problem solver/Dreamer and Doer

Yan Zhuang (庄严), Ph.D.

Beijing, China

I am currently a Postdoctoral Associate in National Institute of Health Data Science at Peking University under the supervison of Prof. Luxia Zhang. I obtained both my bachelor and doctoral degrees at the University of Missouri - Columbia under the guidence of Prof. Chi-Ren Shyu. My dissertation is "Utilizing blockchain technology for clinical trial optimization". I will be joining the Department of Biohealth Informatics at Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis as an tenure-track assistant professor starting August 1st 2023.

My research primarily focuses on applied research into blockchain implementations in healthcare applications to address persistent challenges with patient privacy, data security, and data consistency as well as basic research into the technical challenges of blockchain as well as optimizing blockchain performance. My current research interests lie in Web 3.0 development and applications in healthcare, education, supply chain, insurance, and finance. I aspire to establish academic and industrial partnerships to advance research and benefit our real lives.

I love cooking, hiking, travelling, and spending time with my family. There is an old Chinese saying: reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles. I appreciate the masterpieces of nature and enjoy being immersed in various cultures.

If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse. Jim Rohn
